Soils Testing

How do I get my soil tested?

Getting to know soils in the city is tricky. We are here to help you understand soils, and we think the best way to do this is in a workshop environment.

For 2023, our soil testing services will be conducted solely through our soil testing workshops, offered monthly at our base (Building 11/Swale House in Nolan Park) on Governors Island. We will announce even more pop-up soil testing events as they get scheduled. Check the calendar below for more info

How do these workshops work?

It’s simple - bring your soil samples to our Free Soil Testing Workshop (no need to register beforehand) to get your soils screened for heavy metals by a USI team member, who will provide an explanation of your results and the best way to work with your soils, based on your specific needs. For more information about our workshops and how to find them, see below.

To get reminders for upcoming workshops, sign up to our mailing list and follow us on Facebook or Instagram!
