Residencies will run from mid-May through the end of October 2026 in historic Nolan Park House 6b and will be 1, 2, or 3 weeks in duration with residents planning to arrive on Monday and depart on Sunday evening.
The second-floor residency room/studio is outfitted with a table, chair, and lamp and is approximately 180 square feet with 9’ ceilings and 2 or 3 windows. The house does not have running water or a restroom, but both are conveniently located nearby. This is a non-live in residency with ferry access. The house has a lovely porch and also a soils nook with information, maps, and NY soil samples.
During the residency the artist will be present in their studio on Saturday or Sunday from 11am to 5pm and plan for a free public event such as an open studio, artist talk, or workshop that will be scheduled when accepted to the residency. USI will share event information on our social media page and also with Governors Island if provided enough lead time. Artists will also be featured on our website.
Virtual residencies are also available, if this is your preference please let us know that in your application.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
