Keep the conversation going!
Join us for workshops at SWALE house in Nolan Park on Governor’s Island: home to our Art Extension Service Project Soils Initiative (art and soils residency and project development network)
Here we experiment, encourage, and forge new conversations and collaborations-with art and science working together to probe, explore, and challenge what we know and don’t know about our world in its intrinsic relationships through soils.
Bring your ideas, question, curiosity to these workshops:
1.Soil is art Seminar and Hands-on workshop with Prof and artist, Gerd Wessolek from TU Berlin, co-editor of Field to Palette
2.Get immersed in soils in the Soils Room, through the soil survey and discover soils in the pit, with Margaret Boozer, Red Dirt Studio, Director of USI Art Extension Service, and Richard K Shaw, State soil scientist, USDA-NRCS NJ/NY, cofounder of USI.
3. Dr. Ed Landa and Lillian Ball discuss WATERWASH for a Swimmable Bronx River, their collaborative project and chapter in Field to Palette: Dialogues on Soil and Art in the Anthropocene.
